3 injured in shooting in southwest Miami-Dade

Police still searching for gunman

MIAMI – Three people were hurt in a shooting in Southwest Miami-Dade during a New Year's party.

Just after 3 a.m. Wednesday, three armed men demanded that a man give them his jewelry in the front yard of a home in the 13400 block of Southwest 270th Terrace.

The suspects then went into the home to rob the party-goers.

Police said a man got into a fight with one of the gunmen, falling into a pool. That's when authorities said the second gunman shot him.

The victim's mother saw her son get hit by a bullet and was shot when she ran to protect him. During the confrontation, a third person was also shot, police said.

Two victims were airlifted to Kendall Regional Medical Center while the third was taken in an ambulance.

Miami-Dade police said the robbers took off on bicycles and no arrests have been made.
