3 injured in crash, hazardous material spill in Coral Gables

1 person removed from vehicle after being trapped

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Three people were sent to the hospital Monday after a rollover crash at the intersection of Douglas Road and Alhambra Circle that left one driver trapped and eight gallons of hazardous material spilled.

Officials with the Coral Gables Fire Department said a total of 16 firefighters and paramedics responded to the scene to remove the driver from the rollover vehicle -- a swimming pool service truck -- that was carrying 50 pounds of hazardous material chlorine. A second vehicle involved was carrying the two others who were injured.

Firefighters were able to neutralize the spill and three people were sent to the hospital with minor injuries.

Officials said the intersection was closed for about an hour.
