3 rescued after boat capsizes off Haulover Beach

Boaters not injured; 1 arrested on unrelated warrant

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – Three men were rescued Thursday morning after their boat capsized off Haulover Beach, Miami-Dade Fire Rescue said.

Sky 10 was flying over the Atlantic Ocean, where the boat was upside down in the water about six miles off Haulover Beach.

The men were on a 26-foot fishing boat when their pump failed and they started taking on water. They called 911 from a cellphone, which allowed the U.S. Coast Guard and Miami-Dade Fire Rescue to pinpoint their exact location.

Sky 10 was above a capsized boat in the water off Haulover Beach.

"We saw three people, you know, on top of the hull," Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Lt. Ivan Alicot said.

The boaters were not injured. They were taken to Haulover Park Marina, where one of the boaters was arrested by police on an unrelated warrant.
