3 sentenced for identity theft tax refund scheme

MIAMI – A federal judge on Wednesday sentenced three Miami men involved in an identity theft tax refund scheme.

The judge sentenced 22-year-old Lineten Belizaire to 129 months in prison followed by three years of supervised release; 36-year-old Earnest Baldwin to 172 months in prison followed by four years of supervised release; and, 42-year-old Earl Baldwin to 84 months in prison followed by four years of supervised released.

Belizaire pled guilty in March. Earnest and Earl Baldwin were convicted in April.

According to court documents, the trio -- along with Marckell Steward -- stole identifying information and filed about $1.7 million worth of fraudulent tax returns.
