NORTHWEST MIAMI-DADE, Fla. - Three people were shot and one was killed after a drive-by shooting in northwest Miami-Dade.
The shooting happened at Northwest 52nd Street and 22nd Avenue about 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.
According to Miami-Dade police, the victims were standing outside when at least one gunman fired from a car. Police believe the gunman used an AK-47 after rounds from the assault rifle were found at the scene. Several firearms were recovered at the scene. It's unclear if the victims shot back at the car.
The shooting happened in a residential area where many families with children live. Across the street is Olinda Park, where pee-wee football practice was being held as detectives investigated the crime. Many residents were unwilling to speak on camera for fear of retaliation.
"We live on the blind side of town," one man said, who asked to remain anonymous.
Another resident said she ran after hearing at least a dozen shots.
"It's wrong. Other people's lives are in danger," said resident Diana McClover.
Two of the victims were in stable condition, and the third was an adult male who died on the scene.
A description of the getaway car was not immediately available.
Anyone with information about this shooting is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS (8477).
