$3,890 worth of TV equipment stolen from car

Camera, batteries, hard drive, microphone swiped while Miami Beach visitors out to eat

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. – Two Miami Beach visitors had $3,890 worth of television equipment stolen from their car while they were out to eat on Monday.

Richard Cooper and Kristi Wuensche came to South Florida for two weeks on a shoot for National Travel, a Texas-based travel company.

"From a tourism point-of-view for the city of Miami, this was really a benefit for them," said Cooper.

Their task was to make promotional videos for the cruise line Holland America, which would be used to promote its 2014 cruises to the Panama Canal. They were also shooting video of Miami Beach hotels that they were going to showcase to runners for the upcoming Miami Marathon early next year.

"We shoot our last hotel on Monday evening, put everything into the trunk, and drove to grab some dinner," said Wuensche.

They left the hotel, drove around Miami Beach, and then parked their car in front of 719 North Lincoln Lane, according to the police report. They said they left their car at 8:30 p.m. and returned to it two hours later. Once they arrived back at their hotel, they realized their equipment was missing.

"Open the trunk and everything is gone," said Wuensche.

Thieves stole a video camera, batteries, hard drive, microphone, a remote, and a plastic gun case. Police found damage to the driver's side lock.

"There's a lot of people depending on that footage and that footage is gone," said Wuensche.

"Please give us the footage back. You can have the camera, I won't prosecute, won't do anything, just give me the footage," said Cooper.

Cooper and Wuensche said it will take them at least a year to recover from the loss.

Anyone with information on the theft is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
