4-day adoption extravaganza held at Humane Society of Broward County

Adoption fees waived for animals 4 or older, more than 40 pounds

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Beginning Friday, the Humane Society of Broward County will hold a four-day adoption extravaganza.

Adoption fees will be waived for any animal 4 years of age or older and more than 40 pounds.

"We have so many great pets that are waiting to be adopted," said the president and CEO of the Humane Society, Christopher Agostino. "We hope this offer will encourage people who have thought about adopting to visit."

All pets that are adopted will be spayed or neutered before going to their new home, microchipped, and receive preliminary vaccinations and deworming. All dogs more than 7 months old will be tested for heartworms and cats will be tested for feline leukemia.

Each animal that is adopted will also get a limited 10-day health care plan, courtesy of VCA Animal Hospitals.

New owners will get a complimentary bag of Purina One pet food, and adopted dogs will receive a one-week complimentary stay at the Fort Lauderdale/Pompano Pet Lodge.

The adoption event will take place at 2070 Griffin Road Friday through Monday.

The hours are as follows:
