KEY WEST, Fla. -

Three 52 Class entries are in close contention to win the Quantum Key West 2013 sailing regatta off the Florida Keys.

With two races remaining Friday, Italian-flagged Azzurra, skippered by Argentinean Guillermo Parada, and Swedish-entry Ran, sailed by Skype cofounder Niklas Zennstrom, each have 21 points. Quantum Racing, steered by Amway president Doug DeVos, is one point behind.

In the 23-boat Melges 24 Class, Full Throttle, skippered by Brian Porter of Lake Geneva, Wisc., opened a four-point lead ahead of Hedgehog, captained by Bermuda's Alec Cutler. During one of three Melges races staged Thursday, Full Throttle won, while Hedgehog finished in eighth place.

Barking Mad, with Bostonian James Richardson at the helm and tactician Terry Hutchinson of Annapolis, Md., has a five-point lead in the Farr 40 class.
