6 killed in crash on I-95 in Palm Beach County

Driver, 7th passenger seriously injured in crash

PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla. ā€“ The Florida Highway Patrol said six people were killed Saturday in a crash on Interstate 95 nearĀ Indiantown Road in Palm Beach County.

A 2001 Mercury Villager with eight people inside was heading southbound on I-95 at 9:35 p.m. when a tire tread separation caused the driver to lose control, according to an FHP report. The minivan veered to the left and hit the concrete barrier wall and bounced back into the path of a 2012 Kia Sorento, troopers said.

The SUV struck the right side of the Villager and some of the passengers of the minivan were ejected. Troopers are still investigating how many people were ejected and if the victims were wearing seat belts.

Three of the victims were pronounced dead at the scene, two of the victims were pronounced dead at St. Mary's Medical Center and one victim was pronounced dead at Delray Medical Center.

Macareo Julian-Solis, 14,Ā Marillany Julian-Solis, 5, Alexander Julian-Solis, 7, Sandy Julian-Solis, 17, Andres Perez, 18, and Reynaldo Diaz, 31, were killed, theĀ FHP said. All six were passengers in the Villager.

The driver of the Villager,Ā Heidi Solis-Perez, 33, and another passenger, Daisy Julian-Solis, 11, are in serious condition.

The driver of the Sorento,Ā Sharwen Pierre Louis, 21, suffered minor injuries.

The southbound lanes of I-95 were closed during the investigation, but they reopened at 3 a.m.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
