Actor arrested for outstanding warrant
'Scarface' actor Steven Bauer arrested in Sweetwater
"Scarface" actor Steven Bauer was arrested in Sweetwater for driving with a suspended license Monday night.
Jail records show the 52-year-old Bauer, whose real name is Steven Ernest Echevarria, was booked early Tuesday morning.
According to the arrest report, Echevarria was stopped in the City of Sweetwater for making an improper left turn while driving a silver 2002 Nissan Altima. An officer stopped him at the intersection of SWth 107th Avenue and West Flagler Street at 11:50 p.m. and gave him a warning.
But when the officer ran Echevarria's driver’s license number, he found an open 12-year-old warrant for driving with a suspended license issued by a Miami-Dade County judge. Echevarria was arrested and transported to the Miami-Dade County jail.
Bauer co-starred opposite Al Pacino in the film 1983 movie "Scarface." He also starred on the bilingual PBS show "Qué Pasa, USA." He played the teenage son of a Cuban exile family in Miami from 1977 to 1979.
It was not immediately known if he has an attorney.
Police: Woman in car with Bauer arrested for possession of marijuana
Police say 23-year-old Wilmar Machado was in the front passenger seat of the 2002 silver Nissan Altima driven by Bauer.
When Machado reached into her purse to pull out identification, police said they saw a baggie of marijuana and a glass pipe in plain sight.
She was charged with possession of marijuana.
