WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) — An aide to Haiti's first lady is wanted in South Florida for violating probation after pleading guilty to stealing from a bank where he worked as a teller.

The Florida Department of Corrections lists Karl Jean-Jeune as a fugitive for absconding from a six-year probation sentence.

Jean-Jeune pleaded guilty in 2008 to stealing nearly $30,000 from a Lake Worth bank. He was ordered to serve probation and repay the bank.

He tweeted Monday that he was in Port-au-Prince for a Caribbean summit.

Corrections spokeswoman Jo Ellyn Rackleff tells The Palm Beach Post that the Haitian government would have to agree to deport him.

A spokesman for Haitian President Michel Martelly told the newspaper that Jean-Jeune worked for Martelly's wife.

Jean-Jeune declined to answer the newspaper's questions about the case.
