Andrews Avenue Drawbridge experiences intermittent outages
Electrical system that controls traffic gates causing problem
The City of Fort Lauderdale says the Andrews Avenue Drawbridge over the New River in Downtown Fort Lauderdale is experiencing intermittent outages associated with an electrical system that controls the traffic gates.
According to the city, Highway and Bridge Maintenance Division staff is troubleshooting the relevant system to isolate and fix the problem.
Vehicle and pedestrian traffic may experience intermittent backups on the approaches to the Andrews Avenue Drawbridge as a result of the issue.
HBMD said they will coordinate with city, county, emergency services, and law enforcement agencies when the bridge is out.
Although Andrews Avenue is still a viable route across the New River, the city says motorists are advised to use SE 3rd Avenue, SW 4th/7th Avenue, or US-1/Federal Highway Tunnel to avoid any delay until resolved.
