POMPANO BEACH, Fla. ā€“ A woman who is in jail, accused of killing her mother with an ax, now faces charges for plotting to have her husband killed.

According to BSO, the investigation began on Sept. 9. That's when, according to investigators, an inmate told a jail deputy that Walker approached her, asking if she knew anyone who could kill her husband in North Carolina.

Walker wanted to collect the death benefits from her husband?s insurance, BSO said.

Acting on that tip, detectives set up an undercover deal with Walker to confirm she was trying to recruit a hit man.

Investigators said that Walker told them she wanted her husband to be ?killed in an automobile accident? and wanted him to be left ?unrecognizable.?

Walker agreed to pay the hit man $1,500 and coordinated with her sister to deliver the money. Walker told her sister she needed the money to pay for legal fees, BSO said.

After the money was exchanged, detectives filed an additional charge of conspiracy to commit murder against Walker.

Walker, who was arrested in 2007 in connection with her mother's death, remains in custody at the BSO Paul Rein Detention Center in Pompano Beach.
