A 6-month-old girl is dead after she was left in a car for nearly nine hours, police said.
According to investigators, on Tuesday, the child's father dropped off an older sibling at the Doral Academy Elementary school while the baby was restrained in the back seat.
The father continued on to work, forgetting the his daughter was still in the car, police said.
School officials said it wasn't until the father returned to the school to pick up the older sibling that he realized his six-month-old daughter was in the car, unresponsive.
She was transported to Miami Children's Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
As of late Tuesday, the father was in police custody and being questioned.
Police continue to investigate.
