If you haven't already purchased your child's back-to-school supplies and clothes, you may want to wait a little longer.
Florida's tax free shopping returns Aug. 3 - 5.
During the three-day tax holiday, no Florida sales tax or local tax will be collected on sales of clothing, footwear, accessories selling for less than $75 per item or on certain school supplies for $15 or less per item.
Handbags, backpacks, fanny packs and diaper bags are included.
To maximize your savings, take your time and plan ahead.
Make a list of items you need to buy before you hit the stores. It can be easy to overspend when there are sales.
Once you've made your list, set a budget of how much you're willing to spend per child.
Shop for the best deals. Many stores offer sales for the tax-free holiday, so make sure you hunt for bargains in the newspapers and fliers before heading out.
Check the school's list of required items so you know exactly what your child needs. Also, many schools have strict dress codes, so keep these restrictions in mind before spending money on clothes that may not be allowed.
This is a good time to teach your child about money and budgeting. Depending on their ages, you could negotiate back-to-school budgets with your kids and allow them to try and navigate their purchases on their own.
