Batman visits Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital

Lenny Robinson spent year visiting sick kids throughout the country

HOLLYWOOD, Fla. – Children at Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital had a surprise visit from Batman on Friday.

The Caped Crusader delivered toys to sick children and their parents. The comic book hero also spent a few minutes posing for pictures and signing autographs.

Lenny Robinson donned a $5,000 plastic suit to play the role. He spent the past year driving across the country, meeting with children who are ill.

Robinson's surprise trips gained national attention earlier this year when police in Maryland pulled him over for not having a license plate on his Batmobile. Police dash-cam video shows him stepping out of the car in his Bat suit.

He had the car custom built complete with a propane tank in the trunk, just like the original Batmobile.

Robinson credits his charity to his son who grew up a fan of the comic boom hero.
