Biscayne Bay cleanup celebrates 30 years
Baynanza held April 21st
The 30th anniversary of the Baynanza Biscayne Bay cleanup will be celebrated on April 21st.
Thousands of volunteers will celebrate the anniversary from 9 a.m. until noon.
Baynanza is the largest shoreline cleanup effort in Miami-Dade County.
Last year, over 7,800 volunteers registered to participate in this community event, and collected a record amount of more than 44 tons of trash from the shoreline and nearby islands of Biscayne Bay.
This year the Baynanza Biscayne Bay Cleanup Day will take place at 28 different locations from East Greynolds Park in north Miami-Dade County to Homestead Bayfront Park in the south.
Small boats will transport cleanup volunteers from 5 of the 28 sites to nearby islands in Biscayne Bay to remove trash from these islands as well. Volunteers leave knowing they made a tremendous effort on behalf of the environment. Students who volunteer will receive up to 3 hours of community service credit.
