BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. -

A Boynton Beach Police officer is now out of the hospital after he was shot in the line of duty.

Boynton Beach Police said it started when two officers spotted the suspected getaway car from a robbery in Delray Beach on Tuesday afternoon.

Officer Eric Reynolds and Officer Chris Munro got behind the car on Federal Highway but said the suspect refused to stop. The officers chased the car until it crashed.

Police said Calvin Wallace, 52, then began shooting at the officers. Reynolds was shot in the foot.

The officers returned fire, killing Wallace.

Both officers are on paid administrative leave, which is standard procedure following an officer-involved shooting.
