Car drives into Coral Springs home

No injuries reported

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – A man was hospitalized Sunday after his car rammed into a home in Coral Springs, according to authorities.

Saaria Amed was watching TV when she heard the car heading towards her home.

"Screeching noise, like tires burning," said Saaria.

A moment later, a car smashed through the wall.

"I just jumped back right before it hit me," said Saaria.

Police said a 27-year-old driver was behind the wheel of the vehicle. According to investigators, he was trying to make a turn when he lost control of his Mitsubishi.

"He accidentally hit the accelerator instead of the brake, making him lose control, striking the house," said Joe McCue with the Coral Springs Police Department.

The driver had a deep cut on his face, but no one was badly injured.

"The girls that were inside that bedroom are extremely lucky that this vehicle didn't strike them."

And so a family left picking up the pieces is also counting their blessings.

"I was really happy I started crying, I was really happy that no one got hurt," said Ahmed.
