Car hits guardrail, concrete support

Authorities say 2 inside vehicle transported to Memorial Regional

PEMBROKE PINES, Fla. – A car hit a guardrail, then a concrete support on Interstate 75 at the Miramar Parkway Thursday afternoon, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The Pembroke Pines Fire Department said it was dispatched to the accident at 3:30 p.m. on I-75 and Pines Boulevard.

Two people were inside the vehicle. Authorities said the driver had multiple injuries and was trapped inside the vehicle.

Fire crews were able to remove the driver from the vehicle using the Jaws of Life. The driver was airlifted by BSO helicopter and taken to Memorial Regional, said authorities.

The passenger had minor injuries and was removed from the vehicle without incident. Officials said the passenger was taken by ambulance to Memorial Regional.

All I-75 southbound lanes are closed.
