Hundreds of people pulled out their Heat gear to head to church Sunday morning in Doral.
The Metro Life Church was filled with the spirit of a Miami Heat victory, just hours before the team was scheduled to take on the Oklahoma City Thunder in Game 3 of the NBA Finals.
Pastor Steve Alessi encouraged his congregation to pray for the hometown team. He says the last time they did this, the Heat won the 2006 NBA championship.
"We have spent the year talking about the 'Champ Life' and what it means individually and as a team," said Alessi. "So what better way to celebrate than wearing our favorite Heat jerseys on Father's Day weekend?"
Sunday morning the praise and worship team could be seen on stage and projected overhead on video monitors wearing Heat clothes as they sang.
