Two clients claim a business offering to prepare their taxes for $75 charged them hundreds of dollars instead.

Odalys Rodriguez said she was charged $750 by LBS Tax Services, located at 28844 S. Dixie Highway in Homestead.

"If you would have told me that I would have been charged $750 dollars, I would have said no," she said.

Rodriguez said she returned to LBS Tax Services and a woman named Carmen said she received $75 for herself and the company charged the rest.

"She didn't care," added Rodriguez. "I said, 'You never told me the company was going to charge me that much money.'"

Rodriguez filed a report with Miami-Dade police.

Julio Guerra said he was also told it cost $75 to prepare his tax return.

"I was charged $964 to do my taxes," he said.

When Local 10's Jeff Weinsier called LBS Tax Services, a person offered to prepare his taxes for $75.

Both Guerra and Rodriguez signed their returns at LBS Tax Services, but said the preparers hid the numbers.

"They covered all the figures," said Rodriguez. "[They] just had us sign line after line and covered up the figures so we couldn't see them."

Rodriguez said she's contacted the Internal Revenue Service and Florida Attorney General.

LBS Tax Services offered no comment to Local 10.
