The crew of the Coast Guard Cutter Knight Island repatriated 25 Cuban migrants to Bahia de Cabañas, Cuba, Wednesday.
On Dec. 27, a good Samaritan contacted the Coast Guard, saying he had located a rustic vessel south of Marathon, Fla., with 11 Cuban migrants aboard.
A Coast Guard crew from Marathon responded, embarked the migrants and later transferred them to the Coast Guard Cutter Key Biscayne.
On Dec. 28, a good Samaritan reported another rustic vessel south of Matecumbe Key, Fla., carrying 14 Cuban migrants.
The Coast Guard Station in Islamorada launched a crew that embarked the migrants and later transferred them to the cutter Key Biscayne.
All 25 migrants were later transferred to the cutter Knight Island for repatriation.
Once aboard a Coast Guard cutter, all migrants receive food, water, shelter and basic medical attention.
