MIRAMAR, Fla. – Adriana Crespo is used to wowing crowds with her color guard routines. Now, she is preparing for the national stage -- a performance in the inaugural parade.
"I thought this is a once in a lifetime opportunity," said Crespo.
Crespo has practiced color guard for 11 years. She is an alum of the Boston Crusaders, the third older drum corps in the country.
"Basically, all over the country and all over the world -- Japan, Europe, Canada, the Caribbean -- so we have people from everywhere that march, and the U.S.," said Crespo.
Instead of learning together in person, the team is using technology to practice.
"The color guard is learning choreography via YouTube," said Crespo. "At least for color guard, since you know it's a visual activity, it's easy to learn, especially if you have marched drum corps before."
But she does have one worry.
"I don't know if I am prepared for the cold weather," she said.
Crespo said she hopes the performance will bring some new fans to the sport.
"People that never watch drum corps, you know, this is the first drum corps that they are going to see, you know, for a couple of years and we are going to be involved in a national event so it's really exciting," she said.
