POMPANO BEACH, Fla. -

Drug Enforcement Administration agents and Broward County Sheriff's deputies arrested 10 people, including six doctors, during the bust of a suspected pill mill in Pompano Beach on Thursday.  They will be in court Friday morning

"Today, we targeted the doctors," said BSO Sheriff Al Lamberi.

The bust happened at the Pompano Beach Medical Clinic at Sample Road and N. Dixie Highway. It followed through on a vow DEA Special Agent Mark Trouville made two years ago when 40 pill mills were busted across Broward County.

"At that time I told you we weren't finished yet," said Trouville.

Investigators said doctors at the clinic were handing out pain medication prescriptions to patients who didn't need them, including more than 50 prescriptions for oxycodone and Xanax to healthy, undercover agents over the last few months.

"We've been continuously making undercover buys," said Kevin Stanfill with the DEA. "As we make some buys from a doctor, then you'd have a new doctor come in. These doctors kind of came in and out, so once you had some evidence on one, a new one would come. As long as they were producing doctors that were going to distribute oxycodone without a legitimate purpose, we were going to continue to buy."

The DEA even travelled to New York and Chicago to pick up some of the doctors who had previously worked at the clinic.

"I still don't get it. You go to med school for ten years to learn to save lives and all you end up doing is ruining lives," said Broward Sheriff Al Lamberti.

"DEA does not target doctors. It targets drug dealers," said Trouville.

Investigators said the clinic is part 'Operation Pill Nation,' but the owner of the Pompano Beach Medical Clinic was defensive on his way to jail.

"There's a lot of people who are going to suffer," said the owner.

Some of his patients who weren't arrested also defended the clinic.

"I'm dealing with lower back problems and neck problems," said one man.

Trouville said more arrests were coming.

"We are not stopping here," said Trouville.
