TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) — A House committee nearly killed a bill that would allow craft distilleries to sell their products on site.
The House Business & Professional Regulations Subcommittee voted 7-6 against a bill (HB 347) that would allow small Florida distilleries to sell their products much like craft breweries and wineries do. The committee immediately decided to reconsider the vote and then took no more action.
Supporters said the bill would help local businesses, tourism and farmers.
The bill was opposed by alcohol distributors and the Florida Retail Federation.
