BROWARD COUNTY, Fla. -

The northbound lanes of the Fla. Turnpike were closed for several hours near Griffin Road Wednesday morning after a crash involving a dump truck.

Traffic was backed up as crews worked to clear the debris.

According to FHP, the driver of the truck lost control of the vehicle and it overturned, spilling its load of rocks onto the roadway. Some of the rocks also spilled down the exit ramp embankment and onto a car that was travelling on Griffin Road.

FHP also says rocks from the truck fell onto a car on the roadway below, cracking its windshield.

In addition, 50 gallons of fuel from the truck spilled on the turnpike.

The truck's driver was identified as 46-year-old Paul Andre Oliver of Lauderdale Lakes. He was not injured.

All lanes of the turnpike reopened around 1 p.m.
