Cruise Ships Earn Low Marks In Pollution Study

The Friends of the Earth environmental group rated 10 major cruise lines on how well they worked to reduce pollution in American waters.
The group tested sewage treatment, air pollution reduction and water quality compliance in Alaska waters.
Not one cruise line received an "A" rating.
Holland America earned a B grade while Norweigan cruise Lines and Princess Cruises scored a B-.
Cunard Cruise Line and Regent Seven Seas Cruises received about average grades.
Carnival Cruise lines scored a D-.
Celebrity Cruises and Silversea Cruises also scored poorly.
Disney Cruise and Royal Caribbean received an F grade.
According to the group, Florida has the top three ship departure ports: Miami, Port Canaveral and Fort Lauderdale, but some of the weakest laws to prevent cruise ship pollution.
