Cuba suspends licenses for 2 charter companies that fly between Florida, the island
MIAMI (AP) — The Cuban government is suspending the operating permits for two South Florida-based companies that book charter flights to the communist island.
The Cuban government did not explain its decision to suspend the licenses for Airline Brokers and C&T Charters starting Tuesday, but The Miami Herald (http://hrld.us/Usbh89 ) is reporting that it might be due to lack of payments.
Airline Brokers said the suspension was due to a re-evaluation of flights in the market. It helped coordinate the passage of hundreds of parishioners to the island for Pope Benedict XVI's visit there last March. It operates seven flights weekly from Miami and Fort Lauderdale.
C&T flies to Cuba from Miami, Chicago and New York. It has not issued a response.
