A Delray Beach Police narcotics detective has been arrested for allegedly covering up a relationship he had with a drug informant.

The Palm Beach County State Attorney's Office said David Melville Chin, 35, had the relationship with Natalie Jerue, 26.

According to investigators, Chin pursued and texted Jerue.

The investigation found the Chin even claimed Jerue was an informant to help her get out of trouble on drug charges, but she told police she was not an informant.

Investigators said Chin did all of this to cover up cell phone records linking him to Jerue because he didn't want his wife to find out.

Chin was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail on Wednesday and charged with perjury and official misconduct.

He bonded out of jail on Wednesday night.
