A girl attacked by a family dog was released from the hospital several days after undergoing surgery.
Jacklyn Tucker, 11, lost part of her lip and nose in the attack in West Palm Beach last month. She was brought to Joe DiMaggio's Children's Hospital to undergo a lip switch procedure, where surgeons removed part of her lower lip to fix the upper lip.
"I'm just glad to get out of the hospital now that we know she is going to be alright and back to normal," said Jack Tucker, her father .
The girl was at a sleepover with friends when an English Bulldog Jack Russell Terrier mix attacked her.
"She was sleeping on the couch, fell off and went to get up when the dog attacked her," added Tucker.
The dog, which never showed signs of aggression before, was put down.
Jacklyn will have her mouth sewn shut for the next three weeks and will eat and drink through a straw.
She will have plastic surgery and is expected to make a full recovery.
