A dog has been found alive after falling from the Brickell Avenue Drawbridge on Tuesday night.
The small mixed-breed dog fell from the rising bridge and into the Miami River.
David Bernstein, who witnessed the dog's fall, returned to the bridge Wednesday and asked the bridge operators for help finding the animal.
They looked in a restricted area below the bridge and found the dog walking around there.
Bridge operators said the cement-paved area was full of water at the time of the dog's fall, which likely saved its life. It was lucky for the dog that the area had not been drained in the past couple of days.
The dog was taken to an animal hospital for treatment.
The dog's owners are being sought. Anyone with proof of ownership can call 954-496-0051 for information.
