Hurricane season is almost here, and the state wants you to be ready.

The State Division of Emergency Management is holding its annual hurricane drill to help show how to respond to a hurricane. The drill also gives the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) the opportunity to show how it assesses and handles hurricane threats.

Miami-Dade Emergency Management personnel will participate in the category 3 storm simulation, including staff and storm evaluators. They will show what the EOC does to support the county's response to a hurricane.

The Director For Emergency Management, Curt Sommerhoff, will also speak on hurricane preparedness.
