MIAMI -

A retired Central American general is facing a deportation hearing in Miami because of atrocities he committed during his home country's civil war.

Gen. Jose Guillermo Garcia was convicted in 2002 of atrocities committed during El Salvador's brutal civil war. The U.S. government is seeking his deportation to his home country for human rights violations.

A Stanford University political scientist is expected testify Monday in Miami. Garcia will likely testify Tuesday.
