Family wants arrest in Thanksgiving murder
Juan Rabeiro-Amezcua wanted for shooting, killing Cosme Sanchez
Miami Police are looking for a man who, investigators say, shot and killed one of his neighbors on Thanksgiving.
Cosme Sanchez was among a group of people at the Paradise Trailer Park in the 2700 block of NW S. River Drive when a fight broke out between two women, said police.
"The victim was trying to help one of the girls involved in the fight, trying to separate them," said Miami Police Det. Frankie Sanchez.
Police said Juan Rabeiro-Amezcua, who also lives in the trailer park, then became involved.
"He kept escalating the situation by bringing (a) machete into the fight. When that wasn't enough, he went in and got a gun," said Sanchez.
Police said Rabeiro-Amezcua shot and killed Sanchez, 54, and then ran off. When officers arrived, they found Cosme Sanchez's body on the ground.
"I will always have Thanksgiving as a memory of the day he passed but it makes me angry that he was taken away for no reason," said Nuemis Sanchez, the victim's daughter. "No reason. He never harmed anyone. Never got into any problems."
The victim had moved to the neighborhood only weeks before the shooting.
"My dad was an honest man and like I said, one of the reasons he moved was because the little money he did make he just wanted to save it. He was always saving money," said Nuemis Sanchez. "What matters is that he was taken away from for no reason. Over some stupid fight."
Rabeiro-Amezcua, 37, is considered armed and dangerous. He is described as standing 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighing about 190 pounds.
Anything with information on his whereabouts is asked to call police at 305-603-6350.
