AVENTURA, Fla. -

A Miami-Dade firefighter was honored Tuesday for saving the life of a police officer in October.

The City of Aventura held a ceremony for Regainne George to thank him for his service.

George told Local 10 he doesn't think of himself as a hero.

"Ah I don't know hero is such a strong word. I was just helping. I was just glad I was there to be able to do something to help," said George.

George's life-saving help was captured in surveillance video.

According to police, the video shows Jeremy Kaiser attacking Police Lieutenant Mike Bentolita. Police said George, who was off-duty at the time, saw what was happening and intervened to stop Kaiser from getting the officer's gun.
