Fire leaves family of 6 homeless
Dog killed in Cooper City townhouse fire
Police are investigating the cause of a Cooper City townhouse fire that happened just after 8 a.m. on Sunday.
Two women and four kids, including a 3-week-old, lived in the home at 12230 SW 50th Place.
An 8-year-old boy was taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation, but he doing okay. No one else was hurt.
However, a pet dog did die in the fire.
"I'm in shock about everything. I can't believe this happened because Christmas is coming. My mom was going to come from Sweden. I cancelled everything. I don't know what is going to happen to us," said fire victim Jennifer Hansen.
Six other neighboring homes had to be evacuated.
The Red Cross is helping out everyone who was displaced by the fire.
