MIAMI -

A teenager met the two Miami-Dade firefighters he credits for saving his life.

"I'm pretty sure when you were on here, we had you mobilized with the collar and everything," Miami-Dade firefighter Rudy Fernandez told Danny Lopez in the back of Rescue 47.

The last time Lopez was in the truck, he wasn't standing.

"When we got to him, he was unconscious," said firefighter Norberto Quintanilla.

It was about two years ago on SW 40th Street and 97th Avenue when Danny was involved in an crash and almost lost his life. He credits the crew at Station 47 for saving him.

The then 16 year old made a full recovery. Lopez's doctors told his mother that his recovery was nothing short of a miracle.

And, when he was back up on his feet, Lopez went back to the station to see the crew and let them know how much they impacted him and present with them with a plaque to hang in the station that simply says "Thank you."

"For the most part, we don't get to know the results of a patient, so it’s nice," Fernandez told Local 10’s Jen Herrera.

"I wanted to show them that they did a very good job,” Lopez said.

Lopez now plans to enter the medical field and maybe become a firefighter, too.

"I want to be able to help people out like they helped me and improve their lives," said Lopez.
