ORLANDO, Fla. -

A Florida family documents their daughter's heart surgery through social media.

Live images were streamed Thursday from inside an operating room at an Orlando hospital as doctors worked on the heart of 3-year-old Emily Stone.

Emily was born with only one heart chamber, instead of two.

Fans and followers from 20 countries watched the eight-hour procedure via Twitter and Facebook.

At last check, Emily was recovering in the intensive care unit.

It is the first time an Orlando hospital has used social media during an operation.
