Florida's unemployment rate was down a touch in May compared to April.
The Florida Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO) reported that jobless rate fell from 8.7 percent in April to 8.6 percent in May.
The Florida unemployment rate was 10.6 percent in May 2011.
“As more businesses choose Florida as their home, we will continue to see more and more Floridians secure the jobs they are seeking,” said Governor Rick Scott. “I will continue to work tirelessly on making positive changes to our business climate in Florida until we achieve my goal of making this state the No. 1 business destination in the world.”
Miami-Dade County's jobless rate was actually up. It was 9.8 percent in May, up from 9 percent in April.
Broward's unemployment rate was also up, from 7.2 percent in April to 7.3 percent in May.
