Florida WWII veteran, lawmaker Price dies at 94
Former state senator and World War II combat pilot Edgar Price of Bradenton dead at age 94
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) — Former state Sen. Edgar H. Price Jr. of Bradenton has died at the age of 94.
Price died Saturday after a lengthy illness, said William Hutchings of the Shannon Funeral Home.
The World War II veteran flew 26 combat missions over Europe as an Army B-17 pilot. He was elected to the Florida Senate in 1958 representing Manatee, Sarasota and Charlotte counties. He left the Legislature in 1966. Price retired as executive vice president of Tropicana Products, but remained active in civic affairs and charitable work.
He was predeceased by his wife, Elise, and sister, Elizabeth Beakes. He is survived by his son, Jerry Price of Tallahassee.
A public visitation will be held Friday from 4-6 p.m. at the funeral home.
