Florida runner says Boston scene was chaos
'I'm feeling very lucky': Florida runner says scene at Boston Marathon was harrowing
MIAMI (AP) — Lauren Fuchs had just crossed the finish line of the Boston Marathon, four minutes slower than the time she wanted.
Moments later, that seemed inconsequential.
Before Fuchs even took her first post-race sip of water, the scene turned chaotic. One explosion happened not far from where she was standing, almost instantly followed by another. And in that instant, the woman from Coral Springs, Fla., knew that she would never look at another marathon the same way again.
The bombs that went off near the finish line on Monday killed at least three people and left more than 140 injured, some critically.
Fuchs managed to escape without injury, saying in a telephone interview, "I'm feeling very lucky right now."
