Survey: Detroit unseats Miami as "saddest city"

Forbes has released its annual ranking of the saddest cities in the country. Detroit unseated Miami for the #1 spot.

To compile the list, researchers considered urban factors like crime rates, foreclosure rates, commute times, population, and financial status.

The top 5 were ordered as followed: Detroit, MI (1), Flint, MI  (2), Rockford, IL (3), Chicago, IL (4), and Modesto, CA (5).

Miami did not make it into the top 20 most miserable cities, neither did any Florida city.

Forbes researchers cited Detroit's auto-industry crisis and potential bankruptcy in its explanation of why the Michigan city came in first place.
