Former UM Player Accused Of Defecating In Closet Cuts Deal

Davenport Faced One Count Criminal Mischief, Burglary

MIAMI ā€“ A former University of Miami football star has apparently cut a deal and this morning he'll put an end to a rather strange case.

Najeh Davenport (pictured) is now with the Green Bay Packers, but it was his actions in a Barry University dorm room that got him into legal trouble.

A female student at Barry told police she woke up in the middle of the night and found the football player in her closet defecating into her laundry basket.

Davenport was arrested and charged with one count of criminal mischief and one count of burglary. According to his attorney, the charges will be dismissed in exchange for Davenport teaching a series of football clinics in the Overtown neighborhood where he grew up.

"Thanks to the plea deal, it won't be necessary for us to dig to the bottom of this situation, and we're going leave it where it was," Sharpstein said.

Davenport and the Packers will play the Miami Dolphins next week on Monday night football.
