MIAMI – Friends and family of 16-year-old Bryan Herrera, who was killed while riding his bicycle last Saturday, said their final goodbyes Friday morning.
His mother said a prayer over the casket, while other mourners choked back tears, saying goodbye too soon to the boy they say was a good student with a bright future.
The Miami-Jackson High School student was well-liked and leaves behind his parents, siblings and classmates.
Each one laid a yellow rose on top of Herrera's casket, reluctantly saying their goodbyes and leaving with nothing but the fondest memories of the teen.
His mother had just one message.
"We need to get weapons off the street," she said. "We need to put an end to so much violence and learn how to love one another."
Police continue to search for Herrera's killer. They ask anyone with information to please contact them.
