HOLLYWOOD, Fla. -

Piles of hair fell to the floor at the St. Baldrick's event in Hollywood Saturday.

Members of the community had their hair clipped away to raise money for children's cancer research.

Mickey Byrnes Irish Pub hosted the event while Local 10's Jason Martinez played emcee along with KISS Country Radio's Kenny Walker and Miss Florida 2013, Michelle Aguirre.

Many of the attendees have family members affected by cancer.

Diana Foley, had her head shaved along with her 2-year-old son, Austin.

"I lost my son a year ago, October 10th," Foley said. "And when I first shaved my head he was so proud. He rubbed my head and rubbed his."

Foley said losing her child is what makes her keep fighting for a cause.

The St. Baldrick's Foundation reports that in 2012 it has raised more than $32 million and has shaved more 54,000 heads.
