Gov. signs homeless youth legislation
Scott holds forum in Tampa
Gov. Rick Scott signed legislation concerning homeless youth on Wednesday.
The governor attended a homeless youth forum in Tampa.
The House Bill gives homeless children under the age of 16 the ability to request and receive their birth certificate from the state.
Without a birth certificate, children are not able to obtain a Social Security card, driver's license or state identification card.
The Bill was actually drafted by students at Armwood High School in Tampa.
Gov. Scott said, "I want to commend the students who saw the barriers faced by their fellow students who were homeless and took action to get involved in our democractic process."
