Local 10’s effort to transform Gratigny Plateau Park into a thriving neighborhood park is officially under way.
Last week, the Miami-Dade Park, Recreation and Open Spaces department handed the signed permit documents to Jesse Miller of Miller Construction, the building contractor on the project, and architect Kona Gray of EDSA.
In April 2012, Local 10 first endeavored to build the park and brought Miller Construction and EDSA on board. Two town hall meetings were held to gather ideas from the residents, the preferred drawing was submitted, a groundbreaking ceremony was held and now the green light has been given to start the work.
"We are so excited to have permits to begin construction. Now the park can be implemented as the design will be transformed from paper to reality. What a beautiful process," said Kona Gray of EDSA.
Local 10 is actively engaged in raising funds for the park amenities, which include a toddler playground, exercise stations, learning stations, a butterfly garden and park benches. Local 10 has partnered with the Parks Foundation of Miami-Dade, a 501 (c)3 non-profit organization with a mission to create a healthier, more livable and sustainable community. All donations are tax-deductible and earmarked exclusively for Gratigny Plateau Park.
