Heavy traffic expected due to 2013 Discover BCS National Champion game

Committee: Most traffic congestion expected between 12:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m.

MIAMI LAKES, Fla. -

The Orange Bowl Committee is advising college football fans and commuters to expect heavy traffic congestion due to the 2013 Discover BCS National Championship Game taking place Monday night.

Drivers are advised to seek alternative routes and avoid I-95 northbound between downtown Miami and the Golden Glades interchange, as the heaviest of traffic is expected to occur between 12:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. Monday.

According to the Orange Bowl Committee, local commuters are also advised to discuss with employers the possibility of leaving work early.

College football fans attending the game must have a game ticket in order to park at Sun Life Stadium. Those with tickets are encouraged to arrive at the stadium early and also seek alternative routes to I-95/Florida Turnpike when travelling to and from the stadium.

The Orange Bowl Committee says cash parking lots at Sun Life Stadium will open at 12:00 p.m. Monday.
