HIALEAH, Fla. -

A City of Hialeah employee is charged with stealing cash payments from the department she supervised.

Ivis Valdes is charged with grand theft over $10,000, a third-degree felony.

Valdes, a 16-year City of Hialeah employee, most recently worked as a supervisor in the Water and Sewer Department.

According to police, Valdes stole cash payments made to the department. She has returned $5,200 so far.

Ivis Valdes is currently suspended with pay.
